During the holiday season, your head is full of thoughts about giving. Either gifts you need to buy for friends and family, or gifts you think you might receive. It’s a good time of year to think of those less fortunate. As the holidays approach, don’t forget that there are plenty of worthy causes that you can give to.
Human trafficking is a horrendous crime, and catching the perpetrators is only part of the solution. A lot of work goes into helping those who have been hurt by traffickers. Taken away from their support systems and left with virtually nothing, they’re always in need of help, and many anti trafficking organizations are always seeking donations.
With global warming getting worse all the time, and the oceans filling with plastic, it can make one feel helpless to do anything. Donating to help preserve and endangered species, or plant a tree, or help clean the oceans is a small way to make a big change. There are many eco charities worthy of your support, and if you don’t have money to donate, you can always donate time to clean up litter or raise awareness.
The holidays are one of the worst times to go hungry. If you’re looking for a way to help the needy this holiday season, consider volunteering at a soup kitchen or donating to a food bank. Many food banks will post a list of what items they’re especially looking for, and sometimes you can donate straight from the supermarket while you’re doing your grocery run.
As the holiday season approaches, we can be thankful for what we have, and also do a few small things to make our world a better place. Whether you’re donating money, or donating items, or giving your time as a volunteer, we can all do something to help good causes.
